Post Graduate Teachers Association's Gate Meeting

Members of the Tamil Nadu Post Graduate Teachers’ Association holding a meeting in front of Sarvajana Higher Secondary School in the city on Monday. Members of the Tamil Nadu Post Graduate Teachers Association on Monday organised a gate meeting in front of the Higher Secondary School examination evaluation centres, pressing a charter of demands.
They demanded Rs. 10 a paper for valuation of Plus-Two examination answer sheets.
S. Chelladurai, State General Secretary, demanded setting up of a separate directorate for higher secondary education. Besides, the recently upgraded schools should have at least 10 post-graduate teacher posts for Tamil, economics and commerce in the interest of the students. Separate teaching faculty should be sanctioned for botany and zoology subjects. Post-graduate teachers in Corporation schools, who received letters for transfers at the recently held counselling session, were yet to be relieved. It should be done immediately. All vacancies in schools, including the recently sanctioned and upgraded positions, should be taken into consideration for future counselling sessions.

Head Masters should be given the powers to extend advance to the teachers from the Provident Fund and partial final settlement. Post-graduate teachers appointed between January 1, 1996 and March 31, 1998 with M.Ed qualification should be granted a basic pay of Rs. 6,900. They demanded Rs. 10 a paper for valuation of Plus-Two examination answer sheets.
