Summer Camp For Disabilities

The UDIS Forum, a network assisting people with disabilities in finding employment, is planning to organise summer camps for people with disabilities. Personality development and leadership skills will be the two main components of the programme, said M.N.G.Mani, president of the forum. The camps would be held separately for girls and boys with visual and hearing impairment. Each batch would have about 20 to 30 candidates.

For girls with visual impairment, the camp would also include special life skills. There would be no specific age-group. For girls who are pursuing secondary school education, intensive coaching would be given in mathematics as it is one of the most difficult for people with such a disability. Getting a grasp over mathematics would make their mainstreaming easier, Mr.Mani said. The camps for hearing impaired boys would be held by the end of May or the beginning of June. Interested persons can contact UDIS Forum at 93454 07275, 94437 25925, 98945 95351 or E-mail: udisforum at vsnl.net.
