BIS Free Industry Awareness Programme
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Coimbatore, plans to conduct a free industry awareness programme here on steel sector on July 4. According to a release from Varghese Joy, Director and Head, BIS, Coimbatore, in a recent gazette notification, the Government of India has published steel and steel products (Quality Control) order, 2007, which mentions some important steel products to be covered under mandatory certification from August 12. They include steel for power distribution, steel for health and safety and steel for infrastructure (including railways) and constructional steel and steel for storage\cooking of food products. In order to disseminate the information to steel industry and related organisations on BIS certification process and the requirements, this awareness programme will be held at CODISSIA Hall, Coimbatore- 641 018, the release adds.
