EMRI Launched Ambulatory Service

District Collector V. Palanikumar handing over an appointment order to a girl recruited for an ambulatory service in Coimbatore on Monday. The District Collector, V. Palanikumar, on Monday handed over appointment orders to 24 unemployed youth to be part of an initiative of the Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI) under the Tamil Nadu Public Health Development programme aimed at providing free ambulance service to the poor.

EMRI is implementing the free ambulance service for the poor in the State. In the first phase it would be launched in Chennai, Madurai and Coimbatore. Those in need of the service should call the toll free number 108. The Employment Exchange had issued call letters to 600 graduates in biology. Of them 460 expressed interest and 190 were chosen for the written tests. After the interview 24 were selected. The appointment orders were given by the District Collector during the grievances day programme held at the Collectorate.
