Farmer Protest
Farmers from Chettiarpathy, near Vettaikaranpudur and Sethumadai in Pollachi taluk, on Monday visited the District Collectorate with their mouth gagged with black cloth. They wanted to surrender their family card, land patta pass book and other documents in protest against inaction on the part of authorities in restoring an approach way to their farm land, which has been usurped by a land lord.
The farmers pointed out that they had been using the cart track path for the last several decades. The District Collector, V. Palanikumar, promised to sort out the problem. Accordingly, the farmers agreed to give up their agitation plans. The Collector instructed revenue officials to look into the matter.
