Entrepreneur Clubs Planned

The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Development Institute plans to facilitate establishment of entrepreneur clubs here. One of the officials of the institute said that the new scheme under the MSME Ministry would bring together about 50 entrepreneurs, mostly from the same industrial sector, for each club. They would form a registered organisation and would get initial financial assistance and guidance too.

Depending on the programmes that the clubs would take up for the benefit of members, programme-specific assistance would also be given. Explaining the need for such clubs, the official said there were a number of new entrepreneurs who were not members in any trade or industrial body. These clubs would serve as a forum for them to come together. The MSME Development Institute here was also conducting studies on the textile mills and electroplating units here and the rice mills in Kangeyam for cluster programmes.

These programmes would be taken up in association with the respective industrial associations. Several schemes for the micro, small and medium-scale units had been combined so that these could be implemented under cluster projects. It had taken up a three-year cluster programme for the wetgrinder units here and the project concluded last year. A common facility centre, which was proposed under the programme with assistance from the Central and State Governments, would be established here soon. The building work was over and the machinery would be purchased soon, the official said. The implementing association had received the first phase assistance of Rs. 58 lakh for the centre.
