BU Introdused Smart Card
Bharathiar University has introduced the smart card system for the faculty, staff, research scholars and students. Designed and produced by Consolidated Cybernetics Company Private Limited, the card will serve as a multi-purpose identity card.“It is a new type of card which contains a chip that can be used to store a person’s information.
It is also a replacement for the library card,” according to Vice-Chancellor G. Thiruvasagam. The card would also be used to enter buildings where electronic door locks have been installed. Time of entry and attendance would be recorded by the card.According to the Vice-Chancellor, the card is designed to ensure safety of departments, laboratories and internet centres. Entry of unauthorised personnel could also be monitored, he added.
