The Forest officials with the support of Revenue Department staff and police on Thursday removed encroachments on a 24-cent land on Thadagam Road near Gandhi Park that belonged to the Forest Department. According to forest officials, the court had already ordered that the land belonged to the Forest Department and notices were served on the encroachers. With the encroachers refusing to vacate, the Forest Department sought the help of the revenue officials and police department for carrying out the eviction. The encroachments included 13 houses.Even as the drive began, people removed their belongings.
