Eight members have been nominated in as many categories to the Senate of the Bharathiar University by Governor Surjit Singh Barnala.According to a release from the Vice-Chancellor G. Thiruvasagam, the members and their categories are as follows: Dr. C. Palanivelu (Recognised research institution), Marabinmaindan M. Muthiah (Recognised cultural association), Muthamil Virumbi (Author), Kavidasan (Journalist), M. Settu (Chamber of Commerce), Nandini Rangaswamy (Industry), R. Shanmugam (Lawyer), and K.R. Narain Karthikeyan (Sports).They will be members of the Senate for three years from July 2008.
