Leak In Pillor Water Pipe
The eastern parts of the city and local bodies on its border will have to go without Pilloor drinking water supply for an additional day, as leaks in the main line at Vayyampalayam near the city will take time to be plugged.The Corporation’s water supply officials said on Tuesday that the 1500 mm main line had sprung two leaks and efforts were on to plug these.
The Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board had already announced a shutdown for Tuesday for maintenance work. It had said that the supply would resume on Wednesday.The Corporation officials said the leaks would delay the resumption of supply by another day. The leaks might be plugged by Wednesday morning. Even if the pumping began soon after than, water would reach the main service reservoir only at night. The Corporation would be able to make the internal distribution only on Thursday, they said.
