National Aptitude Test

National aptitude test for standard IX students will be organised by the Central Government on August 17 for ‘National Means cum Merit Scholarship’ selection. It has allotted 6,695 scholarships for 31 districts of Tamil Nadu. According to S. Karmegam, Chief Educational Officer, examination for short-listed candidates will be held in all the Government, Corporation, Municipal, Adi Dravidar Welfare, and Government-aided schools here.

Students eligible to write the test should come from a family that has an annual income of not more than Rs. 1.5 lakh. In addition to this, they should have cleared mental ability and scholastic aptitude tests of NCERT with a minimum of 40 per cent. BC and SC/ST candidates should have a score of 32 per cent.


Those who are selected for the scholarship will be able to get it till Plus-Two only if they pass in the first attempt with 55 per cent in the respective classes. SC/ST should have 50 per cent marks. Selected candidates will get an allowance of Rs. 500 every month. They have to open a joint account with their parents in State Bank of India. Those interested in appearing for the aptitude test can collect the applications from the school principals by paying Rs. 50. Last date for applying is July 17.
