The Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee member has appealed to the Southern Railway to introduce daily overnight express train services to Bangalore and Thiruvananthapuram from Coimbatore. In a memorandum, P.K. Shahul Hameed said the existing trains such as Island Express had very little quota of seats for Coimbatore and was same in the case of the Ernakulam – Bangalore Intercity Express. Mr. Hameed also sought introduction of a passenger train from Coimbatore to Madurai.
