Power Cuts Irk Consumers
TamilNadu Electricity Consumers’ Association has expressed concern over the frequent power cuts in the district. A.V. Varadarajan, the association president has said in a release that the wind mills were generating power to their full capacity now with the commencement of the windy season in May. The State Government withdrew the announcement of weekly power holiday stating that the power situation had improved.
However, the industry was worried over the power cuts that went up to five to six hours a day.Coimbatore was one of the worst hit districts with power-intensive units such as foundries and textile mills going through difficult times. The association appealed to the State Government to distribute the power shortage across the State. The Government should look at options such as buying power from other States, Mr. Varadarajan added.
