Saplings Planted In Jail
Voice of the Youth for Cleaner Environment (VOYCE), a group of eleven youth led by Murugan, an auto driver by profession planted as many as 350 saplings at Coimbatore Central Prison on Sunday. The drive was organised towards creating awareness about the ill effects of global warming and to encourage people to grow trees to conserve the ecology.
The tree planting drive was attended by the Deputy Inspector-General of Prisons, Coimbatore Range, P. Munivelu; Additional Superintendent of Prisons holding charge as Superintendent of Prisons, P. Govindarajan and Deputy Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch CID,R.Chakravarathy.The tree planting drive was co-ordinated by Sister Selvi of St Josephs Convent, Coimbatore.
