TACT Road Roko

Members of TACT staging a road roko at Gandhipuram in the city on Wednesday. The Coimbatore City Police on Wednesday removed more than 1,100 members of the Tamil Nadu Association of Cottage and Micro Enterprise (TACT) when they attempted to stage a picketing agitation at Gandhipuram in protest against erratic power supply.

The TACT said that in the last nine months the State had been experiencing announced and unannounced power cuts. Despite repeated representations, there had not been any major improvement in power supply situation. Hence, the association took a decision to down the shutters of small and micro enterprises as a mark of protest and to stage a picketing agitation at Gandhipuram. The agitators were led by J. James, Coimbatore Unit President of the Association and State President of the Association, A.S. Kannan. They said that frequent power cuts not only hampered production but also affected the machinery.
