Today’s Indian CEO - Programme

Employees are an important asset of any company, next only to the customer, according to Ajai Chowdhry, chairman and Chief Executive Officer of HCL Infosystems Limited. “Customer”, “Employee” and “Owners” formed the “CEO” of an organisation. Customers were the focus of any business and hence they always came first, followed by the most important asset that kept things going – employees-, he said.

Speaking on “Today’s Indian CEO – Competencies That Will Take the Nation Forward” at a programme organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry, Coimbatore, recently, he said HCL had launched an initiative called “employee first and customer second”. This was successful and became a case study in Harvard University. A chief executive officer should hire people with the right attitude and create an environment where people want to work. A successful CEO treated any situation as an opportunity and made the best of it.
