Elected:
The following have been elected office-bearers of the Union of Postal Employee’s Group ‘C’ at its recently held 22nd Divisional Conference: P. Perumalsamy (president), V. Mohan (secretary), K. Jayalakshmi (treasurer). The following have been elected office-bearers of the Gramin Dak Sevak: S.V. Rajavadivelu (president), C. Gopalakrishnan (secretary) and N. Radhakrishna (treasurer).
Student association inauguration:
State Minister for Higher Education, K. Ponmudi will inaugurate the Students Association of the Avanashilingam Deemed University at a function to be held on August 7 at 4 p.m. Rural Industries and Animal Husbandry Minister, Pong-alur N. Palanisamy, Valp-arai MLA Kovai Thangam, Chancellor of the University, T.K. Shanmuganandam and others would take part.
State-level workshop:
KG College of Arts and Science is organising a State level workshop on “Tools in Bio Sequence Analysis and Drug Design” on August 7. The workshop is being organised by the Bio-Informatics Department of the College. S.P. Viswanathan, president of KG Design Services, will inaugurate. A technical session will also be held.
Medical education:
Clinical Ultrasound Society of Coimbatore conducted a one-day Continuing Medical Education Programme on Gynaec Ultrasound titled “Gynaec Ultrasound – Revisited” in Coimbatore recently. Everything in Ultrasound field was discussed along with a live workshop.
New cellular towers:
The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has commissioned nine more cellular towers in Coimbatore for enhancing the cellular service network coverage. The towers have been commissioned at Devarayapuram, Pannimadai, Vettaikaranpudur, Suleswaranpatti, Samathur, Cheranmanagar, Kaniyur, Idikarai and Neelambur.
