Mini Marathon At Coimbatore

Rotary Club of Coimbatore Texcity and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is organising a mini marathon at Coimbatore for CRPF Jawans on August 30.The mini marathon would cover a distance of about 11.2 km starting from Nehru Stadium, Coimbatore at 7 a.m. and would pass through LIC Building, Avanashi Road, Lakshmi Mills junction, Puliakulam, Ramanathapuram, Tiruchi Road, Sungam, West Club Road, Race Course corner, KG Hospital junction, Head Quarters Road, JM Bakery Junction, Avanashi Road flyover, Dr.Nanjappa Road, Park Gate Junction and reach Nehru Stadium.

George C Francis, Deputy Inspector-General of Police and Principal of Central Training College II of the CRPF, S.N. Varadarajan, Chairman and K.A. Kuriachan, Convenor of the mini-marathon said that they expected participants from all ages both boys and girls, men and women from different walks of life.



The total turn out expected was around 10,000 comprising students, youth, uniformed services personnel and several other institutions and organisations were expected to participate. The mini marathon would also include a float by the CRPF along with the CRPF Band accompanying those on the marathon. Prizes would be given to different categories such as boys and girls (below 18 years), open categories men and women above 18 years and veterans above 50 years. Every participant would be given a participation certificate if they completed the marathon. On the marathon route, drinking water facilities, first aid and ambulance had been arranged for any emergency.



The marathon inauguration would be presided by District Collector, V. Palanikumar, Commissioner of Police, K.C. Mahali, Vice-Chancellor of Bharathiar University, G. Thiruvasagam, President of Tamil Nadu Athletic Association and former Director General of Police, Walter Davaram. For registration, the participants should send their details such as name, age, gender, occupation and address along with email ID and contact number (if available) before 5 p.m. of Thursday (August 28).
