Final Electoral Roll Is Likely By September
With the extension of time till August 20 for filing of claims and objections, publication of the final electoral roll is likely by September 15, State Chief Electoral Officer Naresh Gupta said on Saturday.Talking to reporters here, Mr. Gupta said that following representations from political parties that there had been cases of large number of missing of names in various places across the State, it was decided to extend the last date.
Mr.Gupta said voters were turning up at designated locations and hence cases of missing names would come down drastically. Instead of waiting till the last date, the officials had been instructed to commence the exercise of processing the applications, verification and data entry operations.The CEO’s office was also considering the request for organising special camps for receiving applications, he said.
