German Diploma Awarding

Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Chennai Roland Friedrich Herrmann (left) handing over diploma certificate to a candidate at the Geedee Technical Training Institute in Coimbatore on Thursday. Trade relations between India and Germany have been good and strong. Indian banks are becoming active in Germany while German companies are coming to India and making industrial investments, Roland Friedrich Herrmann, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Chennai, said here on Thursday.

Delivering the second German diploma awarding and convocation address of the Tool and Die Engineering course conducted by the Geedee Technical Training Institute, he said the course was a culmination of German expertise and Indian manpower. The four-year diploma course was affiliated by the IHK (The Chamber of Industry and Commerce) and Central Franconia, Germany, as a result of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the institute and IHK.
In addition to trade relations, such tie-ups, helped to strengthen Indo-German relations, the Consul General said. Talking about the German industry, he said: “German industry is becoming competitive. It is becoming adept in efficient use of raw materials and energy, recycling of wastes, etc.

Such technologies stand up to be very good points as these will be the technologies of the future. Sustainability can be achieved only by using natural resources in a responsible way.” However, he maintained that such technologies could be put in place only by trained manpower. Hermann F. Weiler, Managing Director, G.D.W. Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH, Germany, and T.R. Gopalan, Regional Director, Indo German Chamber of Commerce, Chennai, spoke.
