Inter-State Border Meeting
Forest Department officials of Tamil Nadu and Kerala on Tuesday conducted an Inter-State Border Meeting for enhancing mutual co-operation to curb forest offences.District Forest Officer, Coimbatore, and co-ordinator for enhancing co-operation and vigil on either side I. Anwardeen, on directions from Conservator of Forests, Coimbatore, Circle, R. Kannan, held the meeting along with his counterparts from Kerala, DFOs Justin Mohan (Palakkad) and Rajendran (Mannarkad).

The meeting resolved to enhance the existing system of intelligence sharing relating to offenders, besides stepping up combined efforts in patrolling offence-prone pockets. It decided to keep the State reserve forest boundaries beyond dispute, chart out a schedule for patrolling to prevent incidents of dense forest areas becoming a den for ganja cultivation and ensure quick response in the event of forest fires irrespective of jurisdictions.
