Pilloor Water Supply Resumes
The Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board has plugged the leakage in the Pilloor water supply main pipe line at Vayyampalayam. Officials noticed a leak in the pipeline on Saturday and the pumping was immediately stopped for enabling repair works. This is the fourth disruption in Pilloor water supply since May and the second in August alone. Pilloor scheme caters to the drinking water needs of eastern Coimbatore and a number of wayside habitations.
Authorities carried out the works on a war-footing. It got over by Sunday night and the first motor for pumping water was switched on early Monday. The authorities to avoid air locks in the main pipeline gradually started switching on the motors one after the other. The pumped water from the reservoir after the treatment process reached the first storage point of the Corporation i.e., the Main Service Reservoir (MSR) at Saravanampatty on Sathyamangalam Road by noon.
