Radio City Celebrates Friendship Day
Radio City 91.1 FM celebrated Friendship Day with its listeners through a programme, ‘Whatte Friends,’ a race around the city. According to a release, the channel invited listeners to team up with their best friend and complete tasks before reporting back to the starting point, Radio City’s studio. Radio Jockey Surendra who hosts the programme ‘Joyride,’ Viji of ‘Whatte Fun Mornings,’ Praveen of ‘City Spice,’ Martina of ‘Love Beat’ and Kumar of ‘Whatte Fun Weekends,’ along with cardiologist J.S. Bhuvaneshwaran from PSG Hospitals, flagged off the race. The channel also tied up with Boomerang, Naturals and Oxford Book Store for the programme.Of the hundreds of registrations received, 20 teams were selected. After a rapid-fire ‘question and answer’ round, which tested the depth of the participants’ friendship, 10 teams were selected to participate in the programme.
The finalists took to the roads on their vehicles, halting at three pre-defined checkpoints to complete their tasks and collect the ‘next-step’ passes.Karthik and Vinod from Selvapuram were the first to report back to Radio City studios and were crowned ‘Coimbatore’s Whatte Friends.’
