A seminar on “Weights and Measures Act and Packaged Commodities Rules” will be held here on August 13. According to a release from the Coimbatore District Small Industries’ Association (CODISSIA), the programme is organised by the CODISSIA jointly with the Southern India Engineering Manufacturers’ Association, Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, The South India Hosiery Manufacturers’ Association and Tamil Nadu Weights and Measures Manufacturers’ Dealers and Repairers’ Association, Madurai.
The manufacturers and dealers of weights and weighing instruments in the State are purchasing and selling products across the country. These manufacturers, dealers and repairers are facing problems related to the stamping of the weighing instruments, maintenance of registers, etc. The Coimbatore District engineering goods manufacturers, pump industries and hosiery manufacturers are facing problems related to distribution and sales of their goods under the Packaged Commodity Rules.
The seminar will brief the participants on the latest guidelines. It will be presided over by R. Mathrubootham, Director (Legal Metrology), Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution of the Government of India, according to a release from the CODISSIA. Participation is free and the programme will be held at the CODISSIA Conference Hall on Huzur Road.
