Chennai Silks Opening Its 2nd Showroom
Chennai Silks will open two showrooms — one each in Coimbatore and Karur — on September 4. They will be introducing the self-service system here. “We have been experimenting this system in Chennai and will start full-fledged service in Coimbatore and Karur,” Chennai Silks MD K Vinayagam said. He said customers can see the collection and select. “To make customers feel at ease, the showrooms have separate counters for antiques, design jewelleries and an exclusive section for bridal articles,” he added. Currently, there are two Chennai Silks showrooms at Oppanakara Street in Coimbatore apart from showrooms in Chennai, Tirupur, Erode and Trichy. The group has also set up a franchisee at Karunagapalli in Kerala in addition to its franchisee in France. Vinayagam said the cross-cut road showroom will display traditional and trendy textiles and jewellery artefacts from various parts of the country. “The four-floor structure across 1.5 lakh sq ft will have value additions like a Kids Corner and Mother Care division,” he added.
Another managing director K Shivalingam said the Karur showroom is a five-floor elevation in which four floors have textiles and jewellery. “We are planning to induct home appliances soon,” he said. The one-stop shop will also have accessories like cosmetics, fashion and jewellery, toys, gift articles and mobile phones.
