Collage Students Picketed Palakkad Main Road
A group of students from a private college today resorted to picketing on Palakkad Main road, to press their demands including basic amenities and also filling of teachers' vacancies. About 300 students of the college in Kovaipudur on the outskirts squatted on the middle of the road, paralysing traffic for about an hour on the highway from and to the city from Palakkad in Kerala, police said.
They were demanding immediate provision of proper drinking water supply, toilet facility and also appointment of adequate teachers, police said. Senior police and district officials rushed to the spot and managed to convince the students to speak to the college management to solve the issue, after which they lifted the picketing.
