MoU Signed Between NID & D.J.Academy

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad and six design institutes across the country for conducting a common entrance exam. The common entrance examination, to be known as the National Entrance Examination in Design (NEED), will be designed on the lines of other recognized competitive exams like the Common Admission Test (CAT) and Management Aptitude Test (MAT).

"The six institutes that have joined us now will be known as the founder members and those who join us later will be accepted as its associate members", said Darlie Koshie, Director NID. The founder members include Pearl Academy of Fashion (Delhi), IILM School of Design (Gurgaon), Srishti School of Art, Design & Technology (Bangalore), Indian Institute of Craft & Design (Jaipur), Wigan and Leigh College (Delhi) and D.J. Academy of Design (Coimbatore). After cracking the NEED, a student will be eligible to participate in the individual procedures for interview, situation test and group discussion.

"The initiative will facilitate talent mobilization for the design sector and standardize admission procedures. This is certainly in the interest of the student community which otherwise has to prepare for various examination patterns for all design schools in the country. There is also a clash of entrance examination dates", said, A.K.G. Nair, Group Director, Pearl Academy of Fashion.
