According to Vice-Chancellor G. Thiruvasagam, the University of Malta (the only university there) had tie-ups with universities in the U.S.; but, this was the first time they had shown interest in an Indian university. “The High Commissioner is more interested in our faculty visiting the University of Malta on an exchange programme to teach their students.
“They have heard about our university by word of mouth and have come to see for themselves in what areas they can use our expertise,” said Mr. Thiruvasagam. Once the team went back to Malta, the Vice-Chancellor of the university would decide on the areas of interest and a team is expected to come to India in November to enter into a formal memorandum of understanding. The Vice-Chancellor said the outcome of the MoU for Bharathiar University would be explored gradually, after November.
