Oracle Office Soon At Coimbatore
Oracle’s partnership with New Gen India will pave the way for the latter opening an office in Coimbatore for providing solutions and applications to mid-market companies, said Vinod Subramanian, Regional Manager-Application Sales, Oracle Director - Oracle India, Bangalore. Mr. Subramanian told reporters on Wednesday that small and medium enterprises segment provided a growing potential to Oracle India Private Ltd. Oracle India has, out of its total 7,000 customers in the country, around 4,500 mid-market companies. Asked whether he found the Indian SMEs more and more open to the idea of using the software vended by companies such as Oracle, he said his company worked with about 40 partners in the mid-market segment to sell its products and a large number of partners like NewGen India were growing at 100 per cent year on year. On the growth rate in Asia-Pacific region, Mr.Subramanian said the “growth economies are India and China”. There was enormous momentum in the mid-market segment in India and validation and usage of application software were pointers to that.
Mr. Chandra Muthuswamy, Managing Director, New Generation Consultants Pvt. Ltd, Chennai, said the growing market for IT services worldwide was the SME segment. His focus was on companies with a turnover of Rs. 30 crore and companies who serve as vendors to global majors who want them to migrate to an ERP system to guarantee on time delivery etc. Growth was coming more from this segment rather than from large established companies.
He said his company would establish its office in Coimbatore in about a month. It has about 100 applications consultants now which it wanted to double in about 12-15 months. The Coimbatore office would have about 30 people and it would try to serve its Kerala customers from here. As business grows, it would scale up its strength. Mr. Muthuswamy said ERP was not expensive anymore and starting price was less than Rs. 5 lakh.
