Power Cut Disturbed Wind Mill Power Generation
The Indian Wind Power Association has expressed concern over power disruption implemented for wind mills in some parts of the district since Wednesday. Its vice-chairman K. Kasthurirangaian told that windmills under the Udumalpet, Thungavi, Poolavadi and Medrathy feeders in the district witnessed power disruption for five hours every day. The installed capacity of the windmills in the district was 1,380 MW. Of this, about 100 MW was in these areas. Mr. Kasthurirangaian said windmills needed for the generators to operate. When energy was generated, it should flow into the grid and that needed connectivity. Winds had been good this year since April. And, evacuation problems were also minimal. However, effecting power cut for the feeders that had the windmills was affecting wind energy generation and evacuation. With fluctuating winds, “we are unable to calculate the loss due to the problem for the last two days,” he added. He appealed to the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the wind mills since whatever energy we get from these mills is precious.
