Students Went Door To Door Motivate Public

Students and NSS volunteers of the affiliated colleges of Bharathiar University went door-to-door on Sunday, informing the public about the anti-pollution drive to be held on October 2, and motivating them to take part in it. The awareness programme against pollution “Kaakka Kaakka Kovaiyai Kaakka” is being organised by the non-Government organisations, Siruthuli, Residents’ Awareness Association of Coimbatore (RAAC), Kural and Karam, along with Bharathiar University, at five venues. The event was being organised to sensitise the people of Coimbatore to the problem of pollution and to create a resolve to tackle the problem together.

Bharathiar University Vice-Chancellor G. Thiruvasagam had announced that the university students would go door-to-door before the event to inform the public. Accordingly, students took to the roads and gave pamphlets to the households. “Nearly 10,000 students of 55 colleges went door-to-door distributing pamphlets. They also created awareness about pollution and its effects and encouraged people to participate in the event,” Mr. Thiruvasagam told.
