Jama-ath Special Meeting
Coimbatore District United Jama-ath has announced that a special meeting of the Coimbatore District United Jamath and Tamil Nadu Jama-Athul Ulama will be held on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the United Jamath Office at 205, Perumal Koil Street. The meeting will be for sighting the shawal moon so that the Id-Ul-Fitr could be observed.
In a release, M. Ameer Althaf, president, and A. Abdul Jabbar, general secretary, said that representatives of 110 Jama-aths and Jamathul Ulama from districts such as Kovai, Periar and the Nilgiris districts are expected to take part in the meeting. There are chances for sighting the moon on Tuesday and Id-Ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday. In the event of the shawal moon not being sighted on Tuesday, the fast would continue for one more day on Wednesday and Id-Ul-Fitr would be on Thursday.
On the Id-Ul-Fitr day special prayers would be held from 7.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. and Fitra gift will be distributed to the poor and needy of the community.
