Tidel Park Construction Work Started

The apprehension about the delay in commencement of Tidel Park Coimbatore construction work has been put to rest. The Rs 370-crore IT Park project’s construction work has begun and, according to the official brochure, the project will be completed by September 2009. “The de-watering work has started last week and ‘bhoomi puja’ will soon be performed,” said official sources. Tidel Park Coimbatore will come up over 9.5 acres inside the IT-SEZ on Avinashi Road behind Coimbatore Medical College. The IT-SEZ is located on NH 47 and is 3 kms from the airport and 7 kms from both the Coimbatore railway station and central bus stand.

Wipro too has started the preparatory work for construction of its campus, located to the west of the site. The proposed TCS and HCL campuses are to come up on the eastern side of the site. TNEB sub-station, residential apartments, telecom towers and malls are also proposed inside the IT-SEZ. Though the earth evacuation work that commenced last November is over, the project moved slowly due to the rising raw materials cost. The civil contract was awarded early this month and tenders have been floated for DG, ACMV, electrical and lift.

The IT Park will have three floors in the basement for vehicle parking. The ground floor is expected to have space for common facilities like cafeteria, food court, conference rooms, training centre, banks and insurance apart from travel desk, mail & courier service, apart from some IT/ITeS activities. Four upper floors will be dedicated for IT & ITES companies. Each floor will have an area of over 2 lakh sq ft approximately.
