MoU Signed For R&D Centre

Karunya University and Vi Microsystems, Chennai, entered into a memorandum of understanding to establish a research and development centre for biomedical kits. According to a release from the university, both the institutions will jointly plan and execute activities for research and development of biomedical kits.

The employees of Vi Microsystems could pursue their higher studies including certification courses and various other training programmes at Karunya University. The university would create course modules that suit the requirement of the employees without interfering with their career schedules. Vi Microsystems would in turn accept the faculty members of the university for an orientation programme for four to 12 weeks. The programme would give them an idea about running projects in real life. They would also be engaged in teaching some topics to the employees of Vi Microsystems. The company would also recommend project work to undergraduate and post graduate students and provide guidance to them. Bright candidates would be absorbed by the company. Vi Microsystems develops new hardware and software products.

Karunya University also signed an agreement with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Tamil Nadu Circle. According to the agreement, BSNL would provide communication facilities to the university at competitive rates. In turn, the university would accord BSNL ‘most preferred vendor’ status. BSNL would also share its knowledge resources with the university and organise industrial visits for the students and faculty members of the university. Students would also be invited for regular and specialised training programmes conducted by BSNL.
