Indo-Korean Joint Seminar
The Department of Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics of Avinashilingam University, and Coimbatore Society of Biological Chemists (India), Coimbatore chapter, will conduct an Indo-Korean joint seminar on “Biosciences research in the era of globalisation,” on October 14 at Avinashilingam University.
Speakers include Tae-sun Min, Advisor, Korean Science and Engineering Foundation, Yong-Pyo Lim, Director, Korea National research Resource Centre, Plant Bio-Bank, Chungam National University, Hyun-Gyu Park, Professor, Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, KAIST, Korea, Tae-jin Yang, Assistant Professor, Department of Plant Sciences, Seoul National University and Gon-sup Kim, Professor, Laboratory of Biochemistry, College of Veterinary Medicine, Gyeongsang National University.
H.Devaraj, Director, Professor and Head, Department of Biotechnology, University of Madras, will also attend the seminar. The seminar will focus on the latest research areas such as genomics and DNA microarray for the diagnosis of human genetic mutations. It will also discuss the role of stem cells in tissue engineering. The seminar aims at developing joint research proposals in the biotechnology industry. Students, academic staff and research scholars from eight colleges are expected to participate.
