Commissioner Inspected Bus Stand
Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Anshul Mishra made a surprise inspection of the town bus stand at Gandhipuram on Sunday and detected excess collection of fee at a pay and use toilet, issuing of tokens without the Corporation’s seal at the two-wheeler parking lot and encroachments by shops.
Mr. Mishra pulled up the self-help group for poor maintenance of toilet and order the cancellation of contract awarded to another group running another toilet in the bus stand when public complained of fleecing. The Commissioner also imposed a fine of Rs.1 lakh on one group and Rs.50,000 on the other.
Token books were seized from the two-wheeler stand as the tokens did not bear the civic body’s seal. The lessee was also warned of cancellation of contract. Shops were asked to remove structures or goods that encroached the pathways for passengers. The Commissioner also ordered the display of user fee rates in front the toilets and the two-wheeler stand. He warned of action if the order was not complied with.
