Corporation Commissioner Anshul Mishra placed under suspension on Monday Physical Education Director K. Shantha of the Corporation’s girls’ school at R.S. Puram (West) after a preliminary inquiry into reports of teachers misbehaving with students were found to be false. According to a press release from the Commissioner, reports appearing in some newspapers on November 14 said there was faction feud among teachers in the school, that some of them were not taking classes and also that some male teachers were teasing women teachers and misbehaving with girl students. These inputs that were provided by some sources in the school had created a panic among the parents of the students.An inquiry held by the Commissioner found that these were rumours and that a couple of teachers were abused in the name of their caste. The preliminary inquiry found that the rumours were aimed at bringing disrepute to the school. Apart from placing the Physical Education Director under suspension, the Commissioner also issued orders of transfer to a post-graduate teacher G. Anandhi. A parent-teacher association meeting would be held at the school on November 21 to discuss this issue. .
