Corporation Begun Measures To Bring Down The Mosquitoes
A team of one sanitary inspector, a sanitary supervisor, a woman multi-purpose health worker, a malaria prevention worker and two sanitary workers will oversee the fogging in every ward. In a press release, City Health Officer (in-charge) R. Sumathi, said teams from the Corporation would also identify areas where mosquitoes breed, such as stagnant water, and carry out measures to kill the larvae. They would also tell the people not to allow water to stagnate in their areas.
The teams would ask the people not to recklessly discard old tyres, coconut shells and other items around their house. Rain water stagnated in these and provided breeding ground for mosquitoes. The health department also asked people to drink only boiled water. The release said that if the mosquito control measures were not satisfactory, people could complain to the Corporation on the following phone numbers: 94437-99235 (North Zone), 94437-99233 (South Zone), 94421-04130 (East Zone) and 99421-04139 (West Zone).
