Drive Against Stray Cattle
The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) on Friday conducted a drive against stray cattle and removed 25 goats that were causing hindrance to traffic. Following incidence of stray cattle menace, the District Collector, V. Palanikumar, and the Superintendent of Police, G. Karthikeyan, ordered for a drive against the animals. The Regional Joint Director of Animal Husbandry, V. Jagadeesan, constituted special teams led by SPCA Inspectors J. Fredrick Vimalan and R. Balakrishnan.
The teams were provided manpower and vehicles by the Corporation Commissioner, Anshul Mishra. The teams conducted the drive at Peelamedu, Ganapathy, Rathinapuri, Aavarampalayam, Sivananda Colony and Kannappa Nagar. The owners of the goats have been directed to pay the fine for letting the cattle on the roads and take their goats.
