Send SMS To Get Police Help
The Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Coimbatore Range, P. Sivanandi, has announced that people finding it difficult to get police assistance could just send in the details by way of Short Messaging Service (SMS) to the mobile number 93455-99784. Mr.Sivanandi told reporters here that jurisdiction officers and sub-division officers have been clearly instructed to refrain from not performing their duty. Refusal to entertain complaints, conduct inquiries or register First Information Reports (FIR) would be dealt with severely. Police officers and personnel resorting to such practices would be dealt with under relevant service rules and disciplinary action would be initiated.
