Education Assistance

Collector V. Palanikumar handing over a cheque for Rs 10,000 to the visually challenged Chinnasamy in the city on Monday. Collector V. Palanikumar on Monday distributed financial assistance of Rs 25,000 each to five scheduled caste/scheduled tribe and converted Christians to pursue B.Ed course. Mr. Palanikumar handed over the cheques to the chosen beneficiaries at the mass contact programme held at the Collectorate.

The disbursement of assistance to a visually-challenged Chinnasamy who had completed MA in Tamil, S. Murugan, K. Nithya Devi, D. Rajamani and V.G. Shobana in the presence of District Revenue Officer, S. Prabhakaran. For the year 2008-09, the Collector also gave away Rs. 10,000 each as an incentive to 16 law graduates to begin their profession. He also gave away first aid boxes worth Rs. 650 each to 10 hostels of the scheduled caste/scheduled tribe students. In the second phase, 13 hostels would be provided with the first aid boxes.
