Karnataka police arrested Veerappan's Wife

Karnataka police arrested four people, including deceased forest brigand Veerappan's wife, Muthulakshmi, in connection with pending criminal cases against them since the early 1990s. The four were arrested late on Tuesday night from separate places in Tamil Nadu. Muthulakshmi was arrested from her village near Tamil Nadu's Mettur while three other Veerappan associates — Bose, Ponnusamy and Sreenivasan — were picked up from Kolathur and the brigand's birthplace, Gopinatham. The criminal cases against them include an attack on a police convoy near Palar bridge in Tamil Nadu, the killing of Mysore SP, Harikrishna and high profile SI Shakeel Ahmed, apart from three others in 1992. A Karnataka police team arrived in Kunjandiyur where Muthulakshmi lives to execute the arrests warrants issued by a TADA court .

in connection with four cases in 1992. "We've only executed the arrest warrants pending against her," inspector, Abdul Karrem Rowther, said. He said the four were later produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody until December 22. "While Muthulakshmi has been sent to Mysore Central prison the other three are in a jail in Chamarajanagar," he said. Karnataka IGP (Southern Range) J V Gaonkar said that apart from this, warrants against 38 of Veerappan associates are pending.
