Kiran Bedi Prevented By Lawers For Entering Into The Court

Social activist and retired police officer Kiran Bedi was today prevented by some lawyers from entering the venue of a conference, where she was to speak on domestic violence. As the car carrying Bedi arrived near the Integrated court complex, around 100 lawyers blocked the vehicle and raised slogans like 'Kiran Bedi go back.' They objected to her presence, alleging that she had mistreated some lawyers in Delhi when she was in office some years ago.

Some senior lawyers had arranged for the conference and invited Bedi, the former woman IPS officer, to speak on this subject in the Bar Association hall in the complex. However the Association office bearers and some members alleged that the organisers had not taken permission. About 200 lawyers observed a fast in protest against the conference. The organisers later took Bedi in the car to another venue, where she spoke on the topic.Bedi, however, refused to comment on the incident.
