Lawers Boycotted Court
Over 2500 lawyers on Saturday boycotted court proceedings in Coimbatore district protesting the police 'inaction' in the Chennai Dr Ambedkar Law College students clash issue. While 2,000 advocates boycotted all the courts in the city, over 500 lawyers boycotted proceedings in rural Avanashi, Mettupalayam and Pollachi, police said.Meanwhile, K M Dhandapani,Coimbatore Bar Association president, said the boycott of the court for the last two days, was peaceful and without any demonstration or raising slogans against police department. Seeking immediate action against other police personnel who were present when the incident occurred, Dhandapani welcomed the steps taken by the government in removing the Commissioner and placing under suspension some senior police officials.
