Police Recovered 17 Sovereigns Of Gold
The Coimbatore City Police have resolved two cases and recovered 17 sovereigns of gold jewellery and 200 kg of metal stolen from two different premises at Selvapuram recently. Following the incidents, City Police Commissioner K.C. Mahali and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic), K. Shanmugavel, constituted special teams.A team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime – South), M. Annadurai and the Selvapuram police arrested Vinod Kumar, an employee of a goldsmith unit. It is learnt that when unit owner Loganathan had gone out of station, Vinod Kumar had decamped with the 17 sovereigns of jewellery. Vinod Kumar was remanded to judicial custody. In another case, the police arrested P. Devaraj of Perur Main Road on charges of stealing 200 kg of metal sheets from the lathe-cum-workshop of Selvaraj. He was remanded to judicial custody.
