Stone From The Bile Duct Of 7-month-old Child
Surgeons at Gem Hospital here have removed a stone from the bile duct of a seven-month-old male child to save it from a life-threatening problem. Director of the hospital C. Palanivelu, who led the team of surgeons, said in a release on Thursday that this was a rare surgery performed through the laparoscopy and endoscopy procedures.
The child, Krishiv from Ramanathapuram, was suffering from fever, vomiting and jaundice for a week. Tests revealed that a stone was blocking the bile duct, causing acute cholangitis and bile infection. The removal of the stone led to controlling the fever and jaundice. The infected gall bladder was removed a day after the stone removal. The baby had milk, did not vomit and showed no signs of pain, the release said.
