Wipro & PSG Signed Aggrement

WiproTechnologies is planning to restrict its campus engagement only to the top colleges. The move is part of the IT major’s plan to scale down the intake of fresh engineering and science graduates, in line with current trend in IT industry, hit by the financial slowdown. “We want to focus only on top colleges,” Wipro Technologies vice-president-talent acquisition, Pradeep Bahirwani told on the sidelines of signing an agreement with PSG College of Technology on Monday. The company had already selected 110 students from PSG College of Technology for 2009.
“The slowdown is a natural impact of global financial meltdown and because of uncertainties, we hope to hire closer to requirements,” he added. The company had sent offers to 13,500 engineering students all over India in 2007-08 and this year, they have made only 8,000 offers. “We may have some additions, but the overall number would be close to or less than the previous year,” Mr Pradeep said. The company is also looking at hiring more nonengineering graduates this year. “Last year, we sent offer letters to 2,300 science graduates and this time we hope to increase the intake,” Wipro GM Suchira Iyer, added.
