Workshop On Bio-fuel Plant Cultivation

S. Chandrasekaran, General Manager of the Indian Overseas Bank, Coimbatore, speaking at a workshop on “Bio-fuel Plant Cultivation" in Coimbatore. There is a need for finding more alternative sources of fuel, especially bio-fuels, said S. Chandrasekaran, General Manager of Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), recently.

He was inaugurating a workshop on “Bio-fuel Plants’ Cultivation” organised jointly by the Rural Banking Training Centre of the IOB and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development. Search for other sources of fuel like jatropha and others were already under way, he said. “This workshop is an appropriate attempt by our bank to propagate this idea. We will extend liberal finance to viable projects in this sector,” said Mr. Chandrasekaran.
“Farmers interested in taking up cultivation of such plants will be encouraged,” he added. Dean of Agricultural Engineering of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University A. Sampathrajan said the university would also extend its support to the farmers in the farming of bio-fuel plants. He explained to the farmers about the cultivation of plants like jatropha.
