Basic Training Programme For Newly Recruited Prison Security Wardens

Personnel joining the uniformed services especially police and prison security should fulfil the expectations of the public in serving the society, said K.C. Mahali, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore city on Friday. He was inaugurating a six-month basic training programme for the newly recruited grade II prison security wardens.


The training programme has been organised by the Director-General of Police (Prisons), R. Nataraj for the newly recruited prison security staff for all the 30 districts. In Coimbatore 326 prison security warders were being trained at the Police Recruit School on Avanashi Road. Mr.Mahali said that uniformed services personnel should have the physical ability and the mental agility to handle the any situation.



The personnel should go through the Prison Manual thoroughly and ensure that the human rights are protected. The personnel joining the uniformed services should be prepared and well equipped for facing the challenges that lie ahead of them. R. Durairaj, Deputy Inspector-General of Prisons, Coimbatore Range; K.P. Shanmugarajeswaran, Principal of the Police Training College School; P. Govindarajan, Superintendent of Coimbatore Central Prison; M. Padmanabhan, Bharatiar University Co-ordinator of Students Welfare; Singaravelu, Principal of the Police Recruit School and others took part.



The basic training programme would cover jail manual procedures, rules, criminology, sociology, psychology, human rights, Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code besides imparting training in physical fitness, parade, martial arts, arms training, shooting skills and other gadgets used in prison including explosive detectors. For the first time, the Prison department and police are joining hands in imparting training to the candidates on induction.
