Girls Gathered & Hold Candlelight Vigil

Female students gathered here to hold a candlelight vigil as tribute to victims of the recent militant attacks on Mumbai. They sang songs communal harmony songs and called on the government to take steps to ensure the safety and security of all citizens. “As we are youth and citizens of India, we expect a lot from the government. We expect that the government would introduce steps for better participation in our future lives also,” said Vinithra, a student. Meanwhile at another function hosted in New Delhi, yoga guru Baba Ramdev donated cheque of rupees five lakhs each to the family of the 18 security personnel who had lost their lives fighting militants in Mumbai.

Addressing media persons after presenting the cheques, Baba Ramdev said the donation was just a small token of condolence to the families in their hour of bereavement. “All these families are associated with the Patanjali Yogpeeth. We also want to tell these victims of militancy that they are not alone and the entire country is with them. This donation is merely a step to offer condolence to all the families,” Baba Ramdev said. Last week, Muslims in Mumbai had also offered prayers for peace and harmony, as they felt the attacks had caused colossal damage to everybody. Similar candlelight vigils and peace rallies were taken out in different parts of the country to pay homage to the victims who had died.
